Direct Shipment Application Kit (Series 17)
This non-transferable, non-renewable liquor license allows an out-of-state distiller, vintner, brewer, rectifier, blender or other producer of spirituous liquor to ship to a licensed Arizona Wholesaler and through a licensed Arizona retailer, with all applicable taxes applied, before the products are delivered to a consumer. A Direct Shipment License is valid for three years. A resident of this state who is 21 years old or older may order spirituous liquor for their personal use from a Direct Shipment Licensee in person, via telephone, mail, catalog or on the Internet as long as all such shipments are made to and through an Arizona licensed wholesaler and retailer with appropriate licensure to accommodate the transactions.
ADDITIONAL RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Applicants, licensees, and managers must take a Title 4 training course (liquor handling, laws and regulations) prior to approval. A pregnancy warning sign for pregnant women consuming spirituous liquor must be posted within twenty (20) feet of the cash register or at point of display.
- Allows the DLLC Director to issue a direct shipment license to an out-of-state distiller, vintner, brewer, rectifier, blender or other producer of spirituous liquor if the person is licensed in the state where the person’s principal place of business is located and the director determines that the person is capable, reliable and qualified to hold a direct shipment license.
- Products shipped to Arizona by a Direct Shipment Licensee must be to a licensed Arizona Wholesaler and through a licensed Arizona retailer, with all applicable taxes applied, before the products are delivered to a consumer.
- A Record of Direct Shipment Delivery must be maintained for three years showing the individual shipments made to Arizona wholesalers, quantities shipped, and the names and addresses of the wholesalers receiving and processing such shipments.
- A resident of this state who is 21 years old or older may order spirituous liquor for their personal use from a Direct Shipment Licensee in person, via telephone, mail, catalog or on the Internet as long as all such shipments are made to and through an Arizona licensed wholesaler and retailer with appropriate licensure to accommodate the transactions.
- Arizona licensed retailers involved in the delivery of shipments of orders placed with a DirectShipment Licensee shall comply with all provisions of Title 4 regarding the sale, possession, and delivery of spirituous liquors.
